Southfield Esquires Standing Attendance Policy 22-23
The Southfield Esquires Advisory Committee wants to ensure that each Esquire has a successful experience with our program. Good attendance is one of the key components to aid the Southfield Esquires to be successful while in the program. Southfield Esquires are scheduled to meet eighteen times during the school calendar year.
The Southfield Esquire Mentoring Advisory Board expects every Southfield Esquire to attend every meeting. However, we are aware that unforeseen life challenges will arise from time to time. Therefore, the committee affords an Esquire two excused absences per year. The advisory board must be notified of the absence as follows:
- Southfield Esquire Advisory Board members must be notified via email within 48 hours prior to the meeting date
- If the emergency occurs within 24 hours of the day of the meeting, the advisory board must be immediately notified via phone (assigned Southfield Esquire Mentor)
The consequences of a “No Show” and “No Contact Email/Phone” are as follows:
- First unexcused absence, parents will be notified by email of the occurrence and reminded of the program attendance policy. The Esquire will be immediately placed on suspension for two consecutive social outings.
- Second unexcused absence, parents will be notified by email of the occurrence, reminded of the program attendance policy and the Esquire will be suspended from all social activities pending a reinstatement hearing conducted by the advisory and executive boards.
- During their social activities suspension, all Southfield Esquires will be required to continue participating in all formal educational and volunteer activities*
*Once the social activities suspension has been served, the Esquire will be reinstated to resume social activities with the group.
Standard Meeting Date and Time Requirements:
- Esquires should arrive on-site or at a venue 10 – 15 minutes prior to event start to be checked in and reviewed for proper attire.
- A 15-minute grace period will be afforded for event drop-off and pick-up.
- Should a parent or guardian meet with an unforeseen event while en route to a meeting, venue, or pickup, immediately call the Esquire’s assigned mentor to relay your delay.
